Thing #17: Wiki

I added my blog to the page before, but I had to re add my page because some one erased it. The page is a nice homepage for a group to communicate with one another.

Thing #14: Technorati

Tagging is a way to mark a website or blog with a topic for others to search for. I was able to find stories about my favorite players and teams that other fans wrote about. The problem with tagging is anyone can put down a topic and it may not be helpful enough or at all. It is really a search of other people's opinions on certain subjects.

Thing #8: RSS Feeds

RSS feeds are headlines to important news from websites that I can sign up for so that I am able to get the information with out going to each website. I can get headline stories from CNN, ESPN, and Sports stories I would be interested in reading like my favorite sports teams and the different players. I could also find out my favorite players stats and could follow their career process.

Thing #2: Life Long Learning

You're not too old to learn. Learning process takes one's lifetime. It helps you to keep in touch with technology and how to use technology. By learning Technology makes your life easier. Technology simplifies your life. For instance, you can learn on the internet on how to build a fence and how to do things around your house. Out of the 7 1/2 Habits, it is easy for me to be a mentor and teach things to others. That will help me to know it better. The hardest is learning on my own without someone to guide me through the process.

Thing 23 Week 9

Some excercises were useful like youtube.com, the net award winners like craigslist.com. All the rest were useless to me. I dont think i will be using blogs anytime soon. As for my life long learning, there are other tools available for me to use.

Thing 22 Week 9

Was unable to view eBooks. No permission to install plug-in. Will elaborate further when it is fixed.

E-Books would be helpful so many people are able to read the same book without having many hard copies of the books.

Thing 21 Week 9

Podcasts are like radio shows that help keep me updated on basketball news. It also keeps me up to date local and Nigerian news. I especially like the ESPN podcasts. They inform me on sports news i want to hear about.

Thing 20 Week 9

I love youtube.com. I am able to watch my favorite basketball player and their highlights.

Thing 19 Week 9

Though i am not much of a reader, LibraryThing.com did help me find many interesting books on African literature. Some tags that were helpful were Ghana, neighboring country to Nigeria, and Nigeria itself. The search engine really narrows down the topic I am looking for like agricultural, and or political books. It also is helpful with the breakdown of related subjects on the side.

Thing 18 Week 8

Using these online word processers and spreadsheets are convinient to use when not at your home computer. It gives the ability to work anywhere in the world and be able to access it anywhere as well. I like this feature because i dont have to be on my home computer. My dislikes are there aren't as many bonus feature like in microsoft word such as creating tables.

Thing 16 week 7

Wiki's are readily accessible for change by any user. This makes updating the information much more simple bescause there are many users. Researching materials are now even more convenient and usage of internal links are also helpful. With the key word links, I can research on the material even further.

Thing 15

Eventually you will se a digital library where books will be available online through web sites rather than through a library with paper books.

Thing 15

Eventually you will see a digital library where books will be available online through web sites rather than through a library with paper books. Library 2.0 is more patron centered, meaning there is less need for staff positions.

Thing 13

This is a real convenience. Looking up keywords by the use of tags is really helpful. Del.icio.us makes this much easier. Being able to search for keywords I am able to create my own tags makes it convenient for me to go back to any previous pages and possibily other websites that have the same tag as the one I have.

Thing 12

Rollyo.com is a pain. Personally, i didnt like it. It is slow and the set up is confusing.

thing #11

Craigslist.com is a good tool for an individual looking for cars, and other items for sale. Pretty much, anyone can sell anything here. Recently i had been searching cars on craigslist.com and found some potential sales. I also have many cars and or old car parts which maybe in the future I can sell on craigslist.com. Making announcements on craigslist.com will also be helpful promoting a garage sale.

Thing #10

Thing 9: RSS Feeds

It's a good tool to let you know different things happening, like different news. But I didn't sign up for one because I won't use it. It won't be helpful because other than my use of a computer at work, I don't use much of my computer at home. Signing up for an RSS feed I will most likely not use it and it will be a waste of my time and will confuse me more. I would prefer to see the photo's and videos offered on the website instead of just text.

thing 7: Technology

With technology these days, library patrons can search the online catalog and order their books straight from home. That's neat thing. One of these days, I wouldn't be suprised if there are bookless libraries.
